We’re Celebrating 25 Years of Home Alone!

Retro Festive 2015 Christmas Season Press Release

Retro Festive, a Canadian online retailer of quirky merchandise from Christmas culture and pop culture icons, is back for the 2015 holiday season with hundreds of new items, thousands of classic treasures, and exclusive Home Alone merchandise to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the beloved John Hughes film.

Home Alone (1990), starring Macaulay Culkin, told the story of young Kevin McCallister who was left to defend his home from blundering thieves, after a family feud left him home alone at Christmas. Retro Festive will celebrate 25 years of Home Alone with new shipments of sweaters, t-shirts, mugs and action figures with the best characters and one-liners from the film, plus turtle dove ornaments and iconic Kevin McCallister reindeer knit hats.

Retro Festive Dragons Den Pitch
Retro Festive founders pitch the Dragons back in 2011

Here’s a quick refresher: Back in 2011, RetroFestive founders Tyler and Jordie appeared on Dragon’s Den to pitch their crazy idea for a business retailing Pop Culture Christmas gifts and memorabilia. Here’s a clip of their appearance.

Although intrigued, the Dragons ultimately didn’t buy into the business and Jordie and Tyler were sent walking.  But the couple continued to build RetroFestive into a Canadian online retail success story! Sales have grown ten times since their Dragons Den appearance four years ago. And now CBC is sending a crew to shoot an update that will air during a December episode of Dragons Den.
