What is your favourite Christmas movie or TV special?

It definitely has to be ‘A Christmas Story’.  Haven’t we all experienced a ‘Ralphie moment’ where we’re all bundled up to head outside in the cold… only to realize we really have to pee?  Or maybe I’m alone in that…

Does your family have a special or quirky Christmas tradition?
My mom used to make Tourtière, a delicious French-Canadian meat pie.  We also used to open our presents one at a time with up to 15 people in the house. Needless to say the first time it took over ten hours to get them all opened, that tradition was quickly and emphatically voted down.

Which do you prefer: to give or receive?
I feel as though I SHOULD say ‘give’, but really, who doesn’t like ripping into a gift?!  However, seeing the look on someone else’s face when they open that perfect gift from you is pretty special. Can we call it a tie?

Which Peanuts character do you think your friends and family would say reminds them of you?
Definitely Linus, minus the need for a security blanket.

Ugly Christmas Sweaters: Not a Chance – or – The Uglier the Better?
I’m all about the ugly. The inclusion of blinking Christmas lights on the sweater earns bonus points.

What do you want Santa to bring you this year?
With 15-month old twins, an extra set of hands and three-day weekends would be pretty great. But, since neither of those is overly realistic, just the continued health and happiness of my family and friends.

What is your favourite Christmas movie or TV special?
Honestly, my husband and I still find ourselves watching Christmas Vacation year after year. It’s one of those movies you know all the words to, and yet I find myself watching it when it starts airing each season. It’s cheesy and ridiculous, but something about it makes me want to run out and buy eggnog and start decorating the house.

Does your family have a special or quirky Christmas tradition?
Hmmm…is eating until you can’t breathe quirky? No? Good. My Ukrainian mom insists on cooking as though 200 people are attending Christmas each year, and somehow we get through all the food. Eventually.

Which do you prefer: to give or receive?
I get very excited to give when I’ve found the perfect give for someone. I actually struggle to keep it a secret, just want to blurt it out.

Ugly Christmas Sweaters: Not a Chance – or – The Uglier the Better?
The first few years when Ugly Christmas sweaters became a “thing”, we went to a bunch of ugly Christmas sweater parties and kept trying to out-do the last one. I think we’ve peaked, so we’re done.

What are some events that make you feel jolly?
I recently raced with a Global team in the JDRF Ride for Diabetes research.

Global just completed their Knickers and Kickers event where we raised socks and underwear for our Siloam Mission here in Winnipeg . We collected from viewers at St. Vital Mall – it was awesome.

A group of us are also making a wreath to raffle off for Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation. So the top of my desk has been overtaken by ribbon and scissors. So we’re always keeping busy!

What is your favourite Christmas movie or TV special?

My all time favorite Christmas movie is “A Christmas Story”.

Does your family have a special or quirky Christmas tradition?
On Christmas Eve we always have Macaroni and cheese. I don’t know why.

Which do you prefer: to give or receive?

OMG of course it’s giving! Is there anything more exciting than watching a child open a gift?

Which Peanuts character do you think your friends and family would say reminds them of you?
Snoopy. It doesn’t take much for me to break out into a ‘happy dance’.

Ugly Christmas Sweaters: Not a Chance – or – The Uglier the Better?
I prefer a lampshade.

What do you want Santa to bring you this year?
Hello? Go back to question #1.  I’m still dreaming of a Red Ryder BB rifle.

What is your favourite Christmas movie or TV special?
I’m not a repeat-movie viewer, but I do love escaping to the theatre at Christmas time to catch the latest release. Wishing there was another Lord of the Rings movie this year!

Does your family have a special or quirky Christmas tradition?
I love the Messiah. LOOOVE the Messiah. If my mom’s in town, we geek out and go to a sing-along-Messiah with our tattered scores. If not, I blast Handel as loud as my family lets me, all Christmas morning.

Which do you prefer: to give or receive?
Give, give, give!

Which Peanuts character do you think your friends and family would say reminds them of you?
Oooooh, I think I’d be a female-Charlie Brown – piano-playing, Beethoven loving, friend to animals… that’s my style.

Ugly Christmas Sweaters: Not a Chance – or – The Uglier the Better?
Hahaha. My husband takes care of this department for me. (He knows which one I’m talking about)

What do you want Santa to bring you this year?
A mild winter! (Sorry, skiers!) There’s nothing I dislike more than a bone-chilling winter’s day. If perhaps, we could stay close to zero this year, I’d be eternally grateful.
